A Corporate Affair.

Good evening Sydney Siders and welcome to today's corporate, sophisticated, and business woman post! I have created four different outfits that I would wear to a Fashion Marketing Interview, Work Dinner Party, and any other corporate events that do not discriminate against bling, bright colours and  feminine flair.

(Blue Top: Blue Jade - $10AUD; Black wet-look skinny jeans: GUESS Premium denim $149.95; Necklace: Sportsgirl $7.95 (sale); Shoes: Boutique9 $149.95)

This first outfit is something I'd wear to a fun interview that doesn't require you needing to look like someone that came out of Suits (Best series known to man - if you haven't, watch it NOW!). It has a corporate edge given by the peplum top and the black vamp heels; however is toned down by the black skinny wet wash jeans and neon coloured collar necklace. Have you ever prepped for an interview thinking: "I don't want to over dress.. but I also don't want to look like the fool that doesn't know the meaning of a dress code"?. Simple. Do both! For a head office position at a firm that encourages creativity and that is fashion forward or even simply promotional based - Don't be afraid to throw some edge into it! In fact that's probably what the employers are looking for - Style & Grace (And obviously your whit and qualifications too - but fake it till you make it!). Dress according to the nature of the company.

If you throw some edge, fun and style into the outfit - trust me it will make you feel more relaxed, confident and comfortable in your own skin. Don't let a typical black and white penguin suit make you stiff like a robot! It's all about body language and appearing comfortable, appealing, and interested. Even when you just walk in the room, a well constructed outfit says a lot about you before you even introduce yourself in words. Remember: First impressions matter. Employers want an innovative, different, and unique asset (a breath of fresh air!) to join their company, not another typical office replica that just wants a job just because...

(Top: Forever 21 $99RM equivalent $33AUD; Black wet-look jeans: GUESS premium denim $149.95; Shoes: Zara $69.95; Vintage bag: Salvos $Under 15 (Designer Italian brand)

Now this second outfit is what I actually wore to a Fashion Marketing Internship interview about a month ago. Again, I didn't want to look too corporate and serious, but at the same time I didn't want to look too fashionista-casual-comfort-street wear (because that's what the business sold). I decided to just go classy/casual but still adding a hint of professionalism with a flat messenger style bag along with pointy heels and a buttoned up shirt (done up at the top - ads even more style & class - it screams "I'm serious.. but fun.). Incase you were wondering, I did end up getting an offer (I swear the outfit helped as she said "I can tell you're into fashion which is great! Because I need more than just a marketer") But I ended up declining it because I had no time.

I only wore short heels as I knew the chances of stacking it would've been around 40/60 which is a risk I wasn't willing to take on such an important day! Save that for the clubs.

(Dress: GUESS $129.95; Shoes: Tony Bianco $160; Bag - Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 $825; Two-tone Watch: GC Swiss $895)

So, this next outfit is a bit  on the sexy side M15+ rated. Where on earth would you wear this?! Not during the day, thats for sure (I mean I guess you could because the chest area isn't too low - but I wouldn't). This LBD (Little Black Dress) is reserved for the evening at a work dinner party with my GUESS girls. Its Sexy, chic, and flirty, but structured, sophisticated and womanly.

Here is the back of the dress - I love how it cuts down into a 'V' shape to the bottom of my back (This be the flirty part). I also like how the bottom of the dress isn't too tight (like body con dresses) The fact that it is a kind of a tulip puffed style (at the hips and down), well let's just say if it were tight at the very bottom - this would cause the dress to ride up and make me look like I have thunder thighs or some large muffins (Not good).

(Top: Zara $30 (ebay); Blue Pants: Forever 21 $99RM equivalent $33AUD; Shoes: Boutique9 $149.95; Bowling Bag: Sportsgirl $69.95)

This last outfit is a quirky, nerdy, high class, sexy scientist look (Excluding the white coat. I actually failed science in School). I chose a printed blouse (buttoned up to the neck) and paired it with dark blue high waisted pants that are slim at the leg and loose at the hips. Tucking in the shirt accentuates the waist and womanises and professionalises the look. Adding pointy black vamps along with a bold statement striped bag really sharpens this corporate look, making it fierce and sexy. Because everything is so covered (not that I'm usually not covered) throwing up the hair into a tight big bun makes it less daggy and more fresh and approachable. I have yet to wear this outfit anywhere, but if you so happen to have a "nerdy sexy scientist" type job on the horizon and you're stuck on what to wear, consider this ;)

Bangles worn: Charles and Keith 18ct gold plated $130RM equivalent to $43AUD each.

Zara Heels: $69.95 (Outfit 2)

Nine West - Boutique9 - Vamp heels - $149.95 (Outfit 1 & 4)

Burgundy Patent Tony Bianco's - $160 (Outfit 3)

Accessories worn (Excuse the dark image, my mac wouldn't let me fix it): Left to Right - Hair Bun Scrunchy: Diva $5 AUD; Glasses: Prada $400; Two-tone watch: GC $895; Rose gold watch: MK $250; Necklace: Sportsgirl $7.95)

Now you have some insight into my dress code for the corporate world. Remember: Its better to overdress than to underdress whatever the occasion (unless its a slumber party). You only have one shot and minimum of 10 minutes to wow them! If you do then you may even hit the 30 minute mark and start talking about each others cat's. Don't be afraid to get creative with your outfit - the more 'YOU' it screams the better - Just remember to dress according to the nature of the business i.e. Accounting, Law Firm, Data entry = more professional and Penguin style (doesn't mean you can't make it pretty); OR Promotions, Marketing, Personal Assistant, Retail = Fun, stylish, trendy, and chic!

Until Next Time.

Fall Into Autumn With Me.

Good evening Sydney Siders. Okay so, I deserve a big slap on the wrist. I know I promised to "blog as much as I can" and then I fell off the face of the earth for  like almost a month. BUT I have resurrected and come bearing with 3 outfits perfect for leaf-falling-fall.

So one thing you need to know about me is -  I lalalalalalove blouses and neutral colours. Chiffon blouses are light and itch-free, feminine, flowy yet structured at the shoulders, and over all just elegant and classy! I hardly wear blouses in summer (unless its cold) but in Winter - you will see me in nothing but. This is a simple black and white outfit with minimal bare essential everyday accessories (sterling silver bling I never take off). I would wear this for a normal day to day - running errands or stepping out of the house to meet someone, or even wear to work. I don't usually believe in wearing tights as pants, the only exception is only if the shirt is long enough to cover your patookie (ass). Remember: less is more.

(Blouse: Mango $99RM - equivalent to $30AUD; Black Tights: GUESS $19.95; Black Pointe Wedges: GUESS $169.95; Rose Gold Watch: MK 5128 $250 online/ $355 David Jones)

The second outfit we have is a little more girly and fun - This outfit would be appropriate for a date or a nice classy lunch with the girls! I would personally pair the outfit with opaque black stockings instead - but I dug to the bottomless pit of my dresser and found... nothing but wood. So I had to settle with these khaki/blueish stockings instead which ads a bit of colour to the neutral outfit. For a tight structured jacquard type skirt that flares out at the bottom - be sure to definitely wear with stockings if you're closing the outfit with a pair of booties. This will really add dimension to the outfit and make a sexy silhouette for your stems. Because the waistline of the skirt is tight, I prefer wearing a lose blouse tucked in - to really accentuate my waist (plus makes the outfit more comfortable rather than having everything tight up-top and bottom - We want a willow/flow/fall look)

(Cream Blouse: ZARA $99RM equivalent $30AUD; Jacquard Skirt: Forever 21 - $120RM equivalent to $30-40AUD; Khaki/Blue tights: MYER $10; Blue Booties: Nine West $149.95 (sale).

The third outfit we have is prime time chic! Currently the Houndstooth print is really making a come back in the fashion world. The cut of this coat is sharp and structured - There is no botton or strap to close  at the front - reason being - it's almost as if its framing the outfit on the inside as well as being a prominent print on the outside (leaving large coats open at the front makes it more casual - throw in a scarf to ad more of a complete or winter look). I stuck with nude coloured heels as houndstooth black and white theme is the statement piece of this ensemblem - All we need is something sophisticated, pointy, and chic that ads class but doesn't steal the show (nude heels). Lastly to ad to this "I'm on my way to buy some Tiffany - Get out of my way!" look - having the perfect square shape purse to match with such an elegant coat is critical. Really you can have any colour bag to match with this neutral coloured outfit - so long as its hard based, simple and not saggy (saggy bags tone down the 'Class' factor by 6 points).

(Black Tights: GUESS $19.95; Houndstooth Coat: *Some asian brand* - equivalent to $30AUD; Nude Heels: Tony Bianco - est $160 (probably cheaper now); Handbag: Alain Delon - $240RM equivalent to $80AUD)

If you are interested in the Houndstooth coat above, it's probably very unlikely you will find the exact one in Australia as I purchased it in Malaysia from some boutique. However, you are in luck! I was doing some light retail therapy the other day and saw a look-a-like Houndstooth coat to my own (the print is slightly bigger, okay a lot bigger. But it still looks so classy!) If you are interested, make your way ASAP into a Paper Scissors store (A store similar to TEMT or Valley Girl). The store I went to was in Bankstown - and it is very affordable retailed at only $59.95 (Picture of coat is below).

Houndstooth coat: Paper Scissors - $59.95

Lastly - My make up for the day was very minimal - The beauty of the outfits all being neutral  is that you can throw in any lipstick colour of your choice! (I decided to stick with nude).

What I wore:

VIP Gold Collection Super Beblesh Balm BB Cream (My new established Holy Grail product)
Australias 'Ready Set Go' Finishing Powder - True Translucent (HG)
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
Lashes ($2 on ebay for pack of 10)
LashGrip Eyelash Adhesive - Waterproof
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner - 01 Black
YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick - OFAB 20

If you have any questions about who, what, where, why,  or how I got any of the items above - feel free to comment below. Until Next time ;)
